June 7, 2008- CALVERT CITY, Ky- The Professional Bass Fishermen Tournament Trail fished their 4th tournament of the year on Kentucky Lake today. David and fishing partner, Jason Sain, finished the tournament in second place with 21.07 pounds. David and Jason fished a combination of Hoppy's Stroker Jigs, deep crankbaits and big worms to fill out their limit. "Today was one of those days that I think about all winter and spring," David said after the weigh-in. "We had a limit this morning at 6:10 and caught fish on every stop of the day. We probably caught between 50 and 60 fish with 30+ keepers. Size was a big issue. We caught a ton of two and half to three pound fish. Fortunately, we boated the five best bites we had. I love fishing Kentucky Lake and Barkley, especially in June. Fish just get so grouped up." "We had something absolutely amazing happen today. We were on a big school of fish, catching them on a jig. I had just boated a fish and lost my jig trailer, so I set my rod down and opened the box to get another trailer when my $400 GLoomis rod goes overboard. I dove for it and grabbed the butt. To my amazement, it had a fish on it. A bass had bit my jig hanging 12" deep over the side of the boat. Now that's a bunch of fish!" |
