June 21, 2008- BUCHANNON, Tenn.- The Music City division of the Wal-Mart BFL held its 4th tournament of the year today on Kentucky Lake. David Gnewikow finished a respectable 4th place on the boater side with 18 pounds 9 ounces. His co-angler, Ricky Brannum of Ownesboro, KY busted almost 22 pounds off the back deck, a catch that has caused David a lot of grief. "All my friends have just worn me out over this one," David said after the weigh-in. "What can I say, I was around some good fish, I just caught the little ones! I'm actually really happy with how the tournament unfolded. I caught over 30 keepers on a jig and crankbait and never lost a fish all day. I made good decisions on the water, I just didn't catch the big ones. He caught 7 keepers and three of them were five pounders. That's just fishing." The good finish moved David up to 5th place in the BFL points standings going into the last tournament of the year in September on Percy Priest. "I really wanted to put myself in a position with a chance to win the points this year. Unfortunately, I really missed the bite at Old Hickory in March and that cost me. I'll go to Priest in September and give it my all, but I'm too far behind too good of fishermen to win the points. You have to fish well every tournament to win, and I stumbled." |
