Gnewikow finishes 3rd at Percy Priest Lake

March 19, 2011- SMYRNA, Tenn.- For the second week in a row, David was standing on the BassMaster Weekend Series podium with check in hand. Four bass weighing 11.75 landed him in 3rd place in the tough TN Central event. Unseasonably warm weather in Middle Tennessee for the past week had the water temperature in the 60s and the bass confused. Rising water temps and dropping water levels made for a very tough bite. "I was so fortunate to catch what I did," David explained. "I practiced yesterday for 10 hours and never boated a keeper. The only good thing that did for me was convince me that the fish were not on the banks. I moved out a little bit and was blessed to hit a spot when the fish were feeding. In about a 15 minute span, I boated a 4.5 pound smallmouth, a 3.5 pound smallmouth, a 2.5 pound largemouth and broke off another big smallie." The rest of the day was a grind for David. He boated only one more keeper. The 3rd place finish was worth $1061 and another $650 in contingency bonuses.3-19-11 Smallmouth WE Series
